Playing kids find gun in Rotterdam lake

The Rotterdam police twice responded to reports of firearms found by coincidence on Tuesday. A group of kids pulled a gun out of the Zevenhuizerplas while playing outside. And a woman found a gun in Park Zestienhoven while walking her dog, the police said in a statement.

The firearm found by the playing kids was in the lake for some time, according to the police. It wasn't loaded. "The children who found the weapon received an explanation from the police about what to do if they see a firearm lying on the street."

The gun found in the park was in a plastic shopping bag. Forensic investigation was conducted on both the gun and the bag.

Both firearms were confiscated.
