Explosion in Zaandijk hotel, police suspect targeted action

There was an explosion in a hotel on Lagedijk in Zaandijk during the early hours of Wednesday morning. No one was injured. The police suspect that this was a targeted action.

At around 2:25 a.m. someone put something down at the hotel, which then exploded, the police said in a statement. The person was dressed in black and fled on a scooter with no license plates after the blast.

Guests of the hotel were evacuated and given accommodation elsewhere in the area.

The police are investigating and looking for witnesses or people with information that can aid the investigation.
