Amsterdam subway station damaged by ATM bombing

Amsterdam subway station Ganzenhoef was badly damaged in an ATM bombing on Thursday morning. The blast shattered the windows at the entrance of the station and loosened many ceiling plates. The target of the bombing was the ATM at the entrance of the subway station in Zuidoost, NOS report.

The station is currently closed. The police and explosive experts are investigating whether any explosives were left behind.

The ATM bombing happened at around 4:00 a.m. Two suspects fled on a scooter towards Diemen. It is unclear whether they managed to steal any cash. The police are looking for witnesses.

Gazenhoef station is on the Gaasperplas line, line 53. At this stage subways on that line are only running between Amsterdam Central Station and Diemen-Zuid. Buses are transporting passengers between Diemen-Zuid and the final stop.
