Dutch PM gets 'stare down' lesson from kickboxer Rico Verhoeven

Prime Minister Mark Rutte received a "stare down" lesson from kickboxer Rico Verhoven after the two were both guests on television program WNL op Zondag. During the broadcast the Prime Minister said that he always wanted to take a kickboxing lesson. "I see talent", Verhoeven said afterwards.

In kickboxing the two fighters look each other in the eye for a long time before the match. This is called a stare down. Verhoeven shared a photo of the moment on Instagram. "Told our prime minister Rutte to tell all politicians to start every debate with a stare down from now on", he wrote.

Rutte posted a video of the lesson on his Facebook page, with the text: "In the Netherlands we stand opposed to each other, but side to side."
