Large construction scaffolding collapses in Nijmegen

Scaffolding used for construction work on the shopping center on Tooropstraat in Nijmegen collapsed on Monday morning. The scaffolding, which was built over the whole facade of the shopping center, is blocking the entire street. The exact cause of the collapse is not yet clear, but the strong wind may play a role, De Gelderlander reports.

No one was hurt in the collapse, but several cars were severely damaged, the police said. The street is littered with scaffolding and planks. The fire department was called in at around 8:30 a.m. and firefighters are busy with the clean up work.

The Coop store located in the shopping center was closed for some time due to the collapse.
