Hand grenade triggers evacuation at Heerlen police station

The police station on Stationstraat in Heerlen was evacuated for several hours due to a hand grenade. A man showing disturbed behavior left a grenade at the station, NU.nl reports.

The police station was evacuated at around 5:00 p.m. The Ministry of Defense's explosive removal department investigated, determined that it was indeed a real hand grenade, and removed the explosion. The station was released again at around 8:30 p.m.

The man was arrested and taken to a hospital. After treatment, he was brought back to the police station for questioning.
