Man sets self on fire at Turkish consulate in Rotterdam

A man set himself on fire at the Turkish consulate on Westblaak in Rotterdam at around 9:00 a.m. on Monday morning.

A police spokesperson told NU.nl that the man was trying to take his own life. For this reason, no details about his identity will be released.

The man was taken to hospital by trauma helicopter. He was conscious and able to speak to the emergency services, the spokesperson said.

The consulate was not available to comment to NU.nl on Monday morning
