Trapped skiers rescued in Switzerland after call to girlfriend in Utrecht

Two men who got stuck in the snow during a ski tour in Davos, Switzerland, were rescued thanks to a call to the Netherlands. The two men could not remember the emergency number, so one of them called his girlfriend in Utrecht, who in turn called the emergency services, NU.nl reports.

The woman got the men's coordinates via a GPS app and then passed it on to the Midden-Nederland control room. The control room passed the information on to Interpol, who sent a helicopter to rescue the duo.

The two men were freed and escaped with nothing more than a fright, the police said to NU.nl.
