Third ATM bombing in Amsterdam in a week

An ATM on Surinameplein in Amsterdam was blown open during the early hours of Friday morning. This was the third ATM bombing in the Dutch capital in a week, NOS reports.

The incident at the ABN Amro happened shortly after midnight. Whether the perpetrators got away with any cash, is not yet clear. They fled on a scooter, according to the police. The bombing caused a large amount of damage.

The police closed down the square and called in the Ministry of Defense's explosive disposal experts to make sure there were no further explosives in the machine. A number of homes were evacuated as a precaution.
