Cyclist killed by falling tree

A cyclist was killed by a falling tree on Hakvoortseweg in Hilvarenbeek on Monday afternoon, the police said in a statement.

The accident happened around 1:20 p.m. during pruning work, according to the police. The man was cycling by when a tree fell on him. Emergency services tried to resuscitate him, but it was to no avail. He died at the scene.

The Inspectorate for Social Affairs and Employment was informed about the accident, the police said.
