Schiphol parking worker caught squatting in vacationer's home

An employee of a parking manager at Schiphol was arrested with his girlfriend in Gorredijk, Friesland. They were caught using the home of people who were on vacation and had left their car with the parking manager. The residents of the home had no idea, Omrop Fryslan reports.

According to the broadcaster, an observant neighbor noticed the lights on in his neighbors' home, which he was watching while they are on vacation. There was also a strange car in the driveway. He knocked on the door and a strange man opened. The man told him that he had permission to stay there.

The neighbor did not trust the situation and called the home's residents. They did not know anything about the strange man living in their house, so the neighbor called the police.

It turned out that the man works for a company near Schiphol that offers valet parking and parks cars for people who go on holiday. The residents of the house had left their car keys, which also had their home keys attached, with the company. As all their details were registered with the company, it was easy for the man to take their keys, go to Gorredijk and move into their home with his girlfriend.

The 32-year-old man with no fixed place of residence and a 30-year-old woman from the Philippines were arrested. Drugs were also found in the home, according to the broadcaster. The police are investigating various keys the suspect had with him.
