Gelderland woman, 77, arrested for influencing sexually abused child in Nepal
The police arrested a 77-year-old woman in Brummen, Gelderland on Thursday on suspicion of influencing an underage victim of sexual abuse in Nepal. According to the Public Prosecutor, the woman offered the 15-year-old boy a large sum of money if he changed his statements. She planned to travel to Nepal on Friday.
The man accused of abusing the boy, a 66-year-old Dutch man Piet Hein van T., is the Brummen woman's brother. He was arrested in June after being caught with the boy in his room in a guest house. He is facing suspicions of child sex tourism and the possession and distribution of child pornography in both the Netherlands and Nepal.
Van T. worked as a child psychologist in the Netherlands. According to aid organization Terre des Hommes, the man visited Nepal multiple times and was regularly seen in the company of young boys. He appeared on the aid organization's radar in January 2017 when he was spotted with a 13-year-old boy.
