Woman arrested for Bladel hit-and-run

The police arrested a 52-year-old woman for involvement in a hit-and-run in Bladel during the early hours of Monday morning. The victim, a 39-year-old cyclist from Hapert, was found seriously injured on Hallenstraat at around 1:15 a.m.

According to the police, the victim sustained multiple fractures and internal injuries. He was rushed to hospital after receiving first aid at the scene. He underwent surgery.

The police immediately launched an investigation, including looking at camera images from a nearby company and a trace evidence investigation at the scene. This led them to the 52-year-old woman from Oudheusden. She was arrested around 4:45 a.m. on Monday. The woman was released again after questioning, but remains a suspect. It is up to the Public Prosecutor to decide whether or not she will be prosecuted.

"Despite the arrest and later release of the suspect, the investigation is still in full swing", the police said. Investigators still want to talk to anyone who witnessed the accident or may have camera footage of the incident.
