Fairground attraction destroyed in fire; arson suspecte

A fairground operator in Uden lost four trucks to a fire around 4:30 a.m. on Friday. His fairground attraction - Encounter - was completely destroyed. The police believe arson was involved, Omroep Brabant reports.

The fire department found two bottles and a jerry can containing a flammable liquid near where the trucks were parked on Boekelsedijk.

"Everything is ruined, everything is ruined", the operator of Encounter - a kind of modern haunted house - kept repeating to an Omroep Brabant reporter on Friday morning. He can not believe what happened.

The police are investigating why this operator was targeted by arson. Investigators are talking to local residents. The police are looking for witnesses or anyone who may have camera footage of the incident.

The Uden fair starts next week.
