Hard drugs used at party that ended in man's swimming pool death
Hard drugs were used at a party that ended in a 29-year-old man found dead in a swimming pool and another man found unconscious and critically injured on a farm in Milheeze, Noord-Brabant on Sunday morning, the police said in a statement. According to the police, it is not yet clear whether drug use resulted in the victims' death and injuries.
The injured man was rushed to hospital. His condition is stable, but he is still in intensive care, the police said. Two people arrested on Sunday morning.
Omroep Brabant identifies the man who died as 29-year-old Kevin Brouwers from Milheeze. He was keeper for football club Miheezer Boys' third team. On Saturday night Brouwers went to a teammate's housewarming party. Some of the party attendees then went to the arm on Peeldijk for an after party.
Farm owner Willy van der Laar had a few beers with the group and went to bed around 8:00 a.m. "I feel incredibly bad", Van de Laar said to Omroep Brabant. When he went to bed, four people were still drinking beer at his farm. "I don't know what happened after that."
A relative of Van der Laar let out her dog later that morning. She saw a man sleeping in the yard. Because there had been a party, she didn't think much of it. When Van de Laar's son later found the same man still unconscious, he sounded the alarm. Van der Laar woke up because of the commotion. He found Brouwers dead in his pool and took the body out of the water. "I can not imagine that it was a crime", he said to the broadcaster.
