Amsterdam debate center vandalized in run-up to populist party meeting

Debate center De Rode Hoed on Keizergracht in Amsterdam was vandalized overnight. The center's windows were broken and statements like 'Fuck FvD' and 'No fascism' were spray painted on its facade. On Friday evening populist party FvD is holding a lecture about the Brexit at De Rode Hoed, AT5 reports.

The police are investigating the vandalism.

A spokesperson for De Rode Hoed told the Amsterdam broadcaster that only material damage was done - no one was in the building when it happened. She called the vandalism very annoying. "We have our own programing and we also rent our rooms to third parties. This is not our own program", she said. "Not that we want to wash our hands of it, but it is a fact. We fund our cultural programs by renting out our halls."
