Two hurt in shooting at Roermond cemetery

Two people were injured in a shooting at a cemetery in Roermond on Sunday afternoon. According to the police, the shooting was preceded by an argument, which turned into a fight.

Multiple suspects fled the scene. The police are looking for them. By Sunday night, no arrests were made.

Witnesses told NU.nl that the incident started with a car crashing into a tree and a fence at high speed. Some men stepped out of the car and there was a quarrel between four men. Two of them were armed with baseball bats. The two other men shot at them, and then fled.

A spokesperson for the police told the newspaper that they are still investigating which weapons were used in the incident.

Two air ambulances responded to the cemetery on Kitskensdal in Roermond, to take the wounded to hospital. Their condition is unknown.

The police did a forensic investigation at the scene.
