System problems cause frustration at Nijmegen four day hike

System problems caused frustration during registration for the Nijmegen Vierdaagse - an annual four days long hiking event - on Monday morning, De Gelderlander reports.

The Vierdaagse started at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. At the same time, potential participants received a message that they can re-register for the event on a first come, first serve basis. Many people tried to register online for one of the 1,744 spots still available in the event, but to no avail. The online registration module wasn't working, and hopeful participants could not pay their entry fee.

"We find it annoying that paying does not work, we understand that it is stressful and frustrating for everyone", the organizers of the Vierdaagse said on Twitter at around 11:50 a.m. on Monday. The organization did not say when this problem will be fixed, or give an alternative registration method. "A soon as we have more information, we will let you know."
