Ambulance forced off the road in Rotterdam road rage incident
An angry motorist forced an ambulance off the road on Westzeedijk in Rotterdam on Sunday morning. The ambulance was on its way to provide medical assistance on Marconiplein, but without flashing lights or sirens. The motorist blocked its way, AD reports.
"Emergency service do not always drive with sirens or flashing lights because it is not always necessary. But that does not mean that there is no rush", a police spokesperson said to the newspaper. "Apparently this gentlemen thought that the rules do not apply to him. His behavior is morally reprehensible, and we had a hearty talk with him. But legally no steps are possible."
Another ambulance had to be deployed to Marconiplein. Why the man blocked the ambulance's way is not clear.
