Dutch short track skater Schulting wins gold on 1,000 meters
Short tracker Suzanne Schulting won the Olympic title in the 1,000 meters - the first Dutch short track skater to win gold at the Olympic Games. Silver went to Canadian Kim Boutin, and bronze went to Italian skater Arianna Fontana, NOS reports.
Schulting had an amazing finale. She started in second position, but quickly took the lead by overtaking Boutin. After that she did not suffer from the pushing and pulling behind her, and stayed in first place until the end.
"I just started skating and stayed on one. I really still can't believe it", an overjoyed Schultin told NOS.
The 20-year-old Dutch skater made it to the finals with a spectacular last round in the semi-finals. She was in last place, but managed to pass all her competitors on the inside.
