Suspect in banking, tax office cyber attacks released

Jelle S., an 18-year-old from Oosterhout suspected of DDoS attacks on the Dutch Tax Authority and others, was released from custody. He is still considered a suspect, NU.nl reports.

S. was arrested early this month on suspicion of committing DDoS attacks on the Dutch Tax Authority, tech site Tweakers and internet provider Tweak earlier this year, as well as similar attacks on online bank Bunq last year. In emails to the Volkskrant he said he committed the attacks "because it was funny".

Late in January and early in February multiple Dutch financial services were hit in DDoS attacks, including ABN Amro, ING, Rabobank, and DigiD. It is not clear whether S. is also suspected of these attacks.
