Snow approaching Netherlands; code yellow warning issued

The Netherlands can expect snow on Friday, according to meteorological institute KNMI. A code yellow warning for snow and icy roads will be in effect all day on Friday.

The snow will start in the west on Friday morning, and spread out to the rest of the country during the course of the day. KNMI expects between 1 and 3 centimeters of snow. The western parts of the country may also see some rain in the afternoon.

Motorists are warned to be careful of icy roads and to adjust their driving behavior - drive carefully, slowly and keep a safe following distance.

Minimum temperatures tonight will range from -5 degrees in the east to 0 degrees along the coast. Friday will see maximum temperatures around 2 or 3 degrees in the east, and around freezing everywhere where it snows.
