Ponies found loose in Dutch town weeks after alpaca incident

Two adult ponies were found wandering around the Noord-Brabant town of Maaskantje during the early hours of Monday morning. They were taken in by animal ambulance Brabant Noordoost, who posted their photos on Facebook in an attempt to find the owner.

"They are adult ponies and their health is good", Wim van de Pol of the animal ambulance said to Omroep Brabant. "They walked in the middle of the street in the town of 't Maaskantje in the night from Sunday to Monday. A lady was able to lead them to her garden and we picked them up there."

The Facebook post of the ponies was shared thousands of times before the owner was found. The owner is picking the ponies up on Tuesday night, the animal ambulance said on the social media platform.

Earlier this month an alpaca was found wandering around the center of Haarlem. Public interest in this lost animal was so great that the police had to release a statement, asking people to stop calling to find out if they can adopt the alpaca.
