Councillor remanded into custody over underage sex accusation
Kalid T. (32), a councilor of the PvdA party in Gouda and the former principal of primary school An Noer in Alphen aan den Rijn was remanded into custody on allegations of the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl. He was arrested last September and has been in police custody since.
The decision was taken last Tuesday Jan. 10 by the Court of Den Haag during the pre-trial hearing. The accused denies abusing the girl, according to his lawyer Shirley Splinter's statement made during the hearing.
He does admit agreeing to meet with the girl in a hotel this summer, but said "he had no idea that she was that young". The lawyer added that his client was using a dating website hoping to find a serious relationship, not just for sex.
The victim was not one of T.'s students.
Possibly the girl has been victimized by more men. Previously she acknowledged using a sexually-themed web page for a short time this summer, making contact with fifteen men.
The Public Prosecutor is currently investigating on the case. But according to newswire ANP, they have not yet found any evidence that confirms her statements.
T. was not present in the pre-trial hearing. His lawyer informed that he is heavily affected by the accusations and all the attention the media set on the case.
