Bystanders escort elderly woman in microcar off Dutch highway

By standers escorted an elderly woman in a microcar off the A1 highway near Amsterdam on Monday evening. They took her to a nearby gas station and called the police to take her home, the police said on Twitter.

A microcar is a tiny car with a maximum speed of 45 kilometers per hour. Such vehicles are not allowed on Dutch highways.

"Driving home for Christmas. But not with your microcar over the A1 please", the police's highway team said on Twitter. "Elderly driver stopped by citizens and escorted to the gas station. Tribute to these people who prevented worse from happening at danger to their own lives."
