Pastor left seriously injured after assault in Gelderland village church

A 64-year-old pastor of the PKN church in the Gelderland village of Rhenoy, was attacked in her church on Tuesday. The seriously injured woman was found lying in a pool of blood in the church on Dorpstraat and rushed to the hospital, NOS reports.

The pastor had an appointment to meet a piano tuner in the church. When she didn't return home, her roommate went to check up on her and found her lying in a pool of blood. Local residents say she was hit on the head with a hammer, though the police would not confirm that, according to the broadcaster.

Who attacked the pastor and why is not yet clear. The police are investigating.
