Michelin awards 20 Dutch restaurants with prestigious Bib Gourmand title
Another 20 restaurants around the country were added to the prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand list on Thursday, while 19 others were stripped of the title. The list designates the best restaurants that offer exceptionally good food at relatively moderate prices. For the Netherlands, that means a starter, main course, and dessert for 37 euros per person.
Among the restaurants that where named are top Dutch chef Ron Blaauw's Ron Gastrobar Paris in Amsterdam, a gastrobar concept with a France-in-the-Fifties bistro style. In Den Haag, the two-year-old restaurant Oogst joined the list, with its modern European cuisine, while in Eindhoven the Mediterranean restaurant Valenzia scored the award. Valenzia was started by Adrian Zarzo, who already has won a Michelin star.
Chef Hette Hettema from restaurant Ayla in Rotterdam says she totally did not see it coming. "I did not even know that it would have been announced this morning. So it was really nice to wake up discovering that Anya was in the new entry's list," she tells AD. Ayla's team plans to celebrate the prestigious title with champagne on Thursday night.
Michelin Star awarded restaurants will be revealed on Dec. 11. Michelin's Bib Gourmand Benelux 2018 guid goes on sale for €17.95 in the Netherlands beginning Nov. 23.
