Dutch police use pic of wrong woman on wanted list

In a big mistake, the Dutch police put a picture of the wrong woman on a wanted list in March. The police apologized to the woman, and her picture was removed from all official channels, RTL Nieuws reports.

In the wanted post the police, called for information about the perpetrator of a so-called chat scam in Zaandam. A chat scam is when a perpetrator talks his or her way into your home and then steals from you. But the woman pictured in the wanted post, had absolutely nothing to do with the crime.

"The police regret this wrong course of action", the police said, according to the broadcaster. The woman's photo was removed from the official channels, and replaced by footage of the actual suspect.

The woman's photo was shown on the police website and on television program Bureau NH, among others.
