KLM Boeing loses hull part over Japan

A KLM Boeing 777, on its way from Japan to Amsterdam, lost part of its hull while flying over Japan, a spokesperson for the Dutch airline confirmed to AD. The panel fell off shortly after takeoff. It landed on a moving car, but nobody was injured.

The plane was flying above Osaka at a height of 2.5 kilometers when the panel broke off. It landed on a moving car, denting its roof and breaking the rear window. The people in the car escaped the incident with only a fright.

The KLM plane completed its journey to Amsterdam without further incident. "The flight safety on board was never at risk. KLM regrets the incident, and of course, immediately launched an investigation", KLM said, according to the newspaper.
