Dutch-Moroccans get new outlet to tackle racial, religious abuse

A new reporting point was established for Dutch-Moroccans to report racial abuse, religious abuse or any form of intimidation and threats. Reports to Rif Alert! can be made by mail or their website, ANP reports.

Many people who demonstrates in the Netherlands against the violation of human rights in the northern Moroccan region of Rif, face threats and intimidation, according to the Rif Alert! action group. The activists call on Dutch-Moroccans to report threats and intimidation, so that something can be done to prevent them.

According to Rif Alert!, there are indications that the Moroccan government is trying to influence and intimidate European Moroccans, including in the Netherlands. They activists - Dutch-Moroccans concerned about the human rights situation in the Rif and support the protest movement Hirak - want the Dutch government and the European Union to work against this.

They call on Dutch-Moroccans to report any signs of interference by the Moroccan government, anonymously if they prefer.
