Dutch racer 1 of 3 killed on treacherous Isle of Man TT motorcycle street circuit

Dutch racer Jochem van den Hoek was killed in a crash during the Isle of Man TT motorcycle street circuit on Wednesday. Van den Hoek is the second person to die in this year's race. British racer Davey Lambert was killed in a crash on Tuesday. And hours after the Dutch racer's fatal accident, Irishman Alan Bonner was killed in a crash, BBC reports.

Van den Hoek, 28-years-old from Werkendam, crashed on the 11th milestone in the Superstock race, according to BBC. He achieved his first ever finish in the Superbike race on Sunday. The Dutch racer was representing the TC Racing Team on a 1000cc Honda Fireblade.

The organizers of the race, ACU Events Ltd, wished to "pass on their deepest sympathy" to Van den Hoek's family and friends.

The Isle of Man TT motorcycle circuit is known to be very treacherous. Last year four racers were killed in accidents on the circuit. And a total of 33 were killed over the past decade. Since the start of the TT in 1907, over 250 racers have died in accidents on the circuit.
