Dutch woman tracks down sexual assaulter through chat site

A 28-year-old woman from Hoorn managed to track down a man suspected of violently assaulting and choking her by posing as another woman on a chat site. The suspect, Somali asylum seeker Mohammed M., is now in custody and will appear in court on Friday, the Telegraaf reports.

M. attacked the woman in October last year. The man sexually assaulted and tried to choke the Hoorn woman, according to the newspaper. He also stole her phone before fleeing.

The woman found out that the man was active on a chat site, where he used her profile to talk to lesbian and bisexual women. In December the Hoorn woman created another profile, posing as another single woman, and approached the man online. After some chatting, the man sent her a selfie. She immediately recognized her attacker and contacted the police.

Mohammed M. was arrested in February. The judiciary confirmed the woman's role in his arrest to the Telegraaf.
