Dozens of people brawl on holiday evening sending several to hospital

Two people were hospitalized and one arrested in a brawl in Druten on Pentecost Sunday. Three others were arrested for brawling at a dance event in Breda, the police announced in statements on Monday.

A total of four people were injured and at least eight cars were damaged in the brawl in Druten on Sunday night. The police responded to reports of the brawl on Nijenkamp around 11:00 p.m. There bystanders pointed officers to a home on Heerseweg, where the police found seven people in various states of disarray. Three of them were injured, two had to go to the hospital. A 20-year-old was still in hospital on Monday morning.

With the help of a police dog a 50-year-old from Tiel was arrested, according to the police. He ran when the police arrived and was hiding in some bushes. He sustained slight injuries when the police dog detained him.

The police are investigating exactly what happened. More arrests may follow.

A total of 13 people were arrested at a dance event to celebrate Pentecost Sunday on Chasseveld in Breda. Three were arrested for fighting. A 25-year-old man reported to the police that he was knocked unconscious by two 22-year-olds. Both 22-year-olds were arrested. And an 18-year-old was arrested for putting up a fight when guards escorted him off the terrain.

Five people were arrested for having hard drugs, including GHB and ecstasy, in their possession. One man was caught with pepper spray, another with a bullet.
