Amsterdam expects 100,000 on Museumplein for Ajax vs. Manchester United in Europa final

Amsterdam is preparing the Museumplein for a live screening of the Ajax vs Manchester United match in the Europa League finals tonight. Some 100 thousand supporters are expected to watch the match in the square, Het Parool reports.

Ajax is facing Manchester United in the Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden tonight. Should the Amsterdam team win, the team will be honored in a ceremony also on the Museumpleini on Thursday. Some 150 thousand people are expected to attend the ceremony.

The city of Amsterdam announced on Tuesday that the public viewing of the finals will continue as scheduled, despite a terrorist attack in Manchester on Monday. The National Coordinator for Counterterrorism and Security also said that there is currently no reason to cancel events in the Netherlands.
