Dutch act disappointed in 11th place in Eurovision Song Contest; met by fans at Schiphol

The OG3NE sisters Lisa, Shelly and Amy are somewhat disappointed that they placed 11th in the Eurovision Song Contest. "We did our best and hope that we made the Netherlands proud", Lisa said to AD after the finals in Kiev on Saturday. "But we did expect a higher position." The three Dutch women were met by cheering fans when they landed on Schiphol airport on Sunday afternoon.

The sisters went to Ukraine to win, and to leave "something beautiful" behind, Amy said tot he newspaper. "That succeeded. We are very pleased that we could do this together." The fact that their incurably ill mother surprised them by attending their final performance, made the experience even more special.

Salvador Sobral from Portugal won the 62nd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest.

On Sunday a number of the songs performed at the finale dominated the European download lists, according to NU.nl. OG3NE is also getting a lot of interest outside the Dutch borders. Their song Lights and Shadows was listed in iTunes in Belgium, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Switzerland, Great Britain, Sweden, Spain, Norway, France and Ireland by noon on Sunday.
