Dead woman washed ashore at Dutch lake likely murdered

The body of an unidentified woman was found along the Veluwemeer shoreline by a passerby Sunday morning. Police say the woman’s death was likely caused by a crime.

A day later, police say they are still trying to determine the victim’s identity.

The witness reported seeing a person in the water at about 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. Emergency services recovered the body nearby in Biddinghuizen, Flevoland.

Police are asking for anyone with knowledge of suspicious activity near the lake to contact investigators immediately.
