Victims found in old Arnhem hotel killed in crime: police

The man and woman found dead in the old Hotel Rembrandt in Arnhem on Thursday night were killed in a crime, the police confirmed in a statement on Friday. Their identities have not yet been confirmed. But the Gelderlander believes the victims are hotel owner Bennie Peters and a homeless woman he gave shelter in the hotel.

The newspaper is basing this on the fact that if they call Peters' phone, it goes directly to voicemail, while it still rang on Thursday. And Peters' dogs, ten Chihuahuas, were picked up by the Arnhem Animal Ambulance on Thursday night and taken to a shelter. This was done at the request of the police, a spokesperson for the Animal Ambulance said to the Gelderlander.

The police responded to the former hotel on Patersstraat around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday after an alarm in the building went off. They found the bodies inside.
