Court bans permit-less taxi drivers from Schiphol airport
On Tuesday the court in Haarlem gave the municipality of Haarlemmermeer to ban taxis from Schiphol who do not have a permit for the official taxi stand at the airport, NOS reports.
The municipality hopes that by banning permit-less taxis from the airport, the problem of so-called "taxi recruiters" will also be solved. The term taxi recruiters refers to people hanging around in front of the airport, hassling passengers and trying to convince them to get into a specific taxi. Taxi recruiters don't pay for a permit to stop at the official taxi stand, but recruit passengers on the square in front of Schiphol Plaza nd then lead them back to a taxi parked in the parking garage.
According to the mayor, this results in travelers being treated unfairly and disturbs the public order.
