
Amsterdam man in British custody for smuggling €1.6 million worth of cocaine
A 31-year-old man from Amsterdam is in custody in England on suspicion of trafficking 12 kilograms of cocaine. He will remain in custody until his case goes to trial in April, Het Parool reports.
The man in question is Kevin B., a defender for the Amsterdam Crusaders - an American football team. On December 27th he flew from Breda to the Biggin Hill Airport in London where customs found 12 kilograms of cocaine in his luggage. According to the local authorities, that amount of cocain has a street value of converted 1.6 million euros in England.
B. appeared in court for the first time on Wednesday, but the rest of his case was postponed to April. The judiciary needs more time to investigate. He will remain in custody until then.
The Amsterdam man could face up to 7 years in prison for drug trafficking.
