"Elderly man caught with 4,000 kilos of cocaine in major drug bust"

A 77-year-old man was one of three caught red-handed unloading nearly 4 thousand kilos of cocaine in Hazeldonk last week, the Telegraaf reports. According to the newspaper, "drug grandpa" Jan B. from Wernhout is no stranger to the police in the world of hard drugs and has been arrested several times in connection with drug cases over the years.

On Friday Dutch customs officers found 4 thousand kilograms of cocaine hidden in a banana shipment in Hazeldonk. This is the biggest cocaine bust ever in the province. The discovery was made based on a tip from Belgian customs authorities.

Three men were arrested. They were caught unloading the truck. One of them was Jan B. Another was his grandson, according to the Telegraaf.

"Jan knows the most dangerous criminals in the Netherlands", a fellow Wernhout resident said to the Telegraaf. "They call him the 'pill king of Wernhout'."

According to the newspaper, that is not an undeserved title. In 2013 an ecstasy lab was discovered on B.'s complex and in 2009 he was convicted for being part of an ecstasy gang.
