Driver throws family of color off bus so "real Dutch people" could sit

A Connexxion bus driver in Amstelveen told a family of color to get off the bus to make room for "real Dutch people" on Thursday, a man who was on the bus wrote on Twitter, according to RTV Amstelveen.

The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Amstelveen bus station. The tweets led to outrage online and were eventually removed.

A spokesperson for Connexxion told RTV Amstelveen that they are taking the matter seriously and already launched an investigation. The public transport company already spoke to the driver and the family and the surveillance camera footage is being watched.

The driver claims that he did not put the family off the bus, only pointed them to another bus that would get them closer to their intended goal.
