Teacher stabbed at Elst school; student arrested

A teacher was stabbed at the Over Betuwe College in Elst on Friday morning. A boy was arrested for the stabbing, a spokesperson for the police confirmed to the Gelderlander.

According to the newspaper, a first-year student attacked the teacher around 9:00 a.m. He was stabbed in his back with a knife. The man was treated in hospital and then sent home. Police spokesperson Paul Koetsier told the newspaper that the teacher was "not seriously injured".

Students told the newspaper that the victim was their Dutch teacher. The police could not confirm this.

Emergency services are at the school and te police are investigating. Classes were cancelled at the school for Friday and many of the pupils already left the school. According to the newspaper, some pupils are not allowed to go outside for some reason. An employee of the school said that they are now focusing on keepint te peace in the school.

Victim support was arranged for people at the school. And the police spoke to the children class by class.
