
Manslaughter charges face driver in fatal Tilburg hit-and-run
The 23-year-old man who hit two pedestrians with a car in Tilburg last week Thursday is being charged with manslaughter. His 20-year-old brother is no longer in custody, but is still a suspect, the Public Prosecutor confirmed to NU.nl.
Bert (62) and Henriette van der Veeken (59) were killed in the hit-and-run accident. They were hit by the car as they crossed Bredaseweg. Both died at the scene. The driver sped off.
The 23-year-old man turned up at the police station later that night, saying he was behind the wheel. The car, which was later found empty, is registered in the name of his 20-year-old brother.
According to the Prosecutor, investigation showed that the 23-year-old man ws indeed the driver of the car. Several witnesses were questioned, but the Prosecutor would give no further details.
The 23-year-old man will be arraigned on Wednesday afternoon.
