Dutch woman killed by oncoming train in Indonesia

A 23-year-old woman from Tilburg was killed when she ended up under a train at the Lempuyangan train station in Yogyakarta on the Indonesian island of Java. Local media identifies the victim as Denise Pronk from Tilburg, AD reports.

The young woman was hit by a train while she was trying to cross the tracks. She died on the spot. According to Indonesian media, she was traveling with another Dutch person.

The Indonesian police are investigating what happened. The woman’s body was transferred to the Dr. Sarjito hospital in Yogakarta.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the death to AD. According a spokesperson, the Tilburg woman was traveling alone and everything points to this being an accident. Her family was already informed.
