Some 250 Dutch online stores victim of online skimming

Hackers attacked at least 250 Dutch online stores, through which cyber criminals were able to steal payment information from customers placing orders, according to an analysis by security screening Willem de Groot, NU.nl reports. Small Dutch online stores in particular were targets of skimming. Big stores like Bol.com and Coolblue are not on the victim list. Online skimming is when cyber criminals hack into a website and leaves software behind that records information customers type in, usually on the payment page. That information - such as credit card numbers - is then sent to a remote server. Worldwide 5,900 online stores fell victim to this form of cybercrime.
