Court bans parents from linking "Gulen school" to terrorism
The court in Haarlem ordered four parents of former students of De Roos primary school to stop calling the school a terrorist organization. Should they fail to do so, they will be fined 1 thousand euros per violation, up to a maximum of 10 thousand euros, NU.nl reports. The parents called the school a "Feto-School" with Feto standing for Fethullah Terrorist Organization. Fethullah Gulen is seen as the main rival of Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish government blames him for an attempted coup in the country in July. The court ruled that the parents statements on a WhatsApp group they created caused damage to the school. They actively approached other parents to oin the group and told them to take their children out of the school because it is affiliated with Fethullah Gulen. The judge decided that the parents do not have to rectify their statements.
