Amsterdam police shoot man with knife

Police officers shot a man in an Amsterdam home on Wednesday after the man pulled a knife on the officers, the police said in a statement. He was taken to hospital with unknown injuries. The shooting happened in a home on Wagenaarstraat around 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The police were in the home at the request of a doctor, who thought he may need help. The man in the house pulled a knife and threatened the officers. The officers felt threatened enough that shots were fired. The man was injured. The extent of his injuries is unclear, though the police statement says that he was "resuscitated on the spot and taken to the hospital". As is standard procedure in all police shootings, the Rijksrecherche is investigating. The Rijksrecherche is the department that handles all internal investigation at the police. In the interest of the investigation, the police will not release any further information at this time.
