Teenage girl threatened at knife point by man, 31

A 31-year-old man from Hoogeveen was arrested in his home town on Saturday for threatening a 16-year-old girl at knife point, the police said in a statement on Sunday. According to the police, the girl and a 14-year-old friend were walking across the street on Vos van Steenwijklaan when the man approached them and threatened the girl with a knife. The two teenagers managed to get away and called the police. The suspect ran off. The 31-year-old man was arrested a short time later on Jan Dekkerstraat. He is in custody for questioning. The girl pressed charges.
