Cop fired for showing up to work drunk

A police officer working in the Noord-Nederland unit was fired on the grounds of serious dereliction of duty. The officer was caught driving under the influence and showed up for work drunk several times, RTV Noord reports. A criminal investigation is ongoing against the officer in connection with driving under the influence. The police would make no further comment on the matter. According to the broadcaster, the officer was previously suspended on the same charge.
