Domestic violence suspect allegedly punches Rotterdam cop in face

A Rotterdam police officer was wounded on Saturday while arresting a man suspected of domestic violence. The suspect punched the officer full in the face during the arrest, leaving the cop with an open wound on his brow that had to be stitched up in hospital, the police said in a statement. A couple of police officers were driving on Mathenesserweg around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday when a group of people drew their attention. Witnesses told the cops that a woman sitting in a car was just assaulted by a man. Two suspects were arrested. A 34-year-old man resisted arrest and attacked the police officer. The other suspect, a 19-year-old man from Ede, decided to let his anger out on the police car, headbutting the inside window out. Both suspects are in custody for further investigation.
